Palmcard vs Zoom AI Companion: a Zoom feature or a separate live assistant
Competitor facts come from the vendor's own pages, checked on the date shown. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on their site.
This is not a like-for-like comparison. Zoom AI Companion is part of the platform you are already paying for. Palmcard is an app you add on top, and it also works on Meet, Teams and Webex. So the question is what the Zoom feature already covers and what is left. Zoom facts below come from Zoom's own pages, checked on 27 Oct 2026.

Where Zoom AI Companion is better
- No extra cost if you already pay for Zoom. On eligible paid plans it is included, which makes it the obvious first thing to try for summaries. Palmcard is a separate subscription.
- Built in, with a notice to everyone. Participants acknowledge a pop-up on joining, an indicator shows while it is on, and the host decides who can use it. That is open by design, and some organisations require exactly that.
- Languages and translation. Meeting summaries cover 30+ languages, and Zoom's translated captions list 35 languages according to its 2024 blog. Zoom also has a voice translator for 9 languages. Palmcard supports 25.
- Deep integration. Summaries connect to Zoom chat, whiteboard, mail and recordings. An app outside Zoom cannot do that.
The costs are on Zoom's side too: some features need a ZoomMate licence plus credits, the host and admins control the settings, and the voice translator is metered. Check what your own plan includes.
What Palmcard adds
- Live help on what to say. Zoom's help pages describe summaries, questions and translation of what others say. They do not describe suggesting your reply. Palmcard writes the next line, in our tests 0.5 to 1.1 seconds after the other person stops. Absence from a help page is not proof a feature does not exist, so check Zoom's current features.
- Any platform, the same way. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Slack huddles all work, because Palmcard listens to your computer's audio rather than to one product.
- Answers from your own documents, and an honest "I'll check and come back today" when the answer is not there.
- A private card. Others see nothing in the participant list. Unlike Zoom's notice, you are responsible for telling them. See is it legal to use AI on calls.
- Memory and a voice profile on the Pro plan, and a preparation brief before the call.
Translation is a good example. Zoom translates what others say. Palmcard's job is helping you phrase your answer in the language of the call. See live translation in Zoom, Meet and Teams.
Who should choose which
| Your situation | Better fit |
|---|---|
| Your company is on paid Zoom and wants summaries with a visible notice | Zoom AI Companion |
| You want captions or speech translated for a multilingual Zoom meeting | Zoom's translation features |
| You attend calls on several platforms and want one tool for all | Palmcard |
| You need help answering a hard question as it is asked | Palmcard |
| You sell in a second language and want the reply written for you | Palmcard |
Using both together
This pairing makes sense. Let Zoom handle the official summary and the notice to participants, and let Palmcard help you answer in the moment. Because Palmcard is not part of Zoom, tell the other person calls are transcribed, as you would for a recording. See also AI note taker vs real-time call assistant.

Questions people ask
Is Zoom AI Companion free?
It is included at no extra cost with eligible paid Zoom plans, though this may vary by region. Zoom's My Notes has a free Basic tier with 3 AI note uses and 20 queries a month. Some features need extra licences or credits.
Does Zoom AI Companion join as a bot?
No. It is native to Zoom, and Zoom says My Notes needs no bots. Participants see a notice when it is on, with an indicator in the top-right.
Does Zoom AI Companion suggest what to say?
We found no such feature on Zoom's pages. It covers summaries, in-meeting questions and translation. Palmcard is built to suggest your next line during the call.
Does Palmcard only work on Zoom?
No. It works with anything that plays sound on your computer: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack huddles and phone calls taken through the laptop.
Can I use Palmcard if my Zoom host disabled AI Companion?
Zoom's settings control Zoom's own feature. Palmcard runs separately on your computer. You should still tell others the call is transcribed, and follow your organisation's rules.
Which handles more languages?
Zoom's meeting summaries cover 30+ languages and My Notes 9. Palmcard supports 25 for live help, writing the line in the language of the call.
