AI sales call assistant on Reddit: the real questions, answered
We could not read the comments on Reddit. This page works from thread titles and search snippets seen on 27 Oct 2026, then answers the questions they raise using our own checked research.
On 27 Oct 2026 Google showed several Reddit threads asking for live help on sales calls. In r/AI_Agents: "AI Tools for Real-Time Assistance During Sales Calls" (about 60 comments). In r/salesforce: "Would a real-time AI sales coach be useful, or just annoying?" (about 10). In r/SaaS, an "AI service tool which will bring up objection answers" (7), and in r/salesdevelopment, "We tried using AI to help reps handle objections live" (9). In r/AI_Sales: "AI that helps during cold calling" (about 20).
We could not read any of the comments, so we do not report what people replied. We answer the questions the titles raise.
Which kind of AI sales call assistant is this page about?
The phrase has two meanings, and search results mix them.
| Meaning | What it does | Covered here? |
|---|---|---|
| An AI that makes the calls | A voice agent dials or answers and talks to the customer in place of a person. | No. We did not research voice agents. |
| An AI that helps a person on a call | Listens to a call you are on and suggests what to say, or writes notes afterwards. | Yes. All the Reddit titles above ask for this. |
Every thread title we saw asks for help during a human's call. So this page covers that. For the general picture, see AI sales call assistant: what it does.
Are there tools that help in real time, and what do they do?
Yes, but most AI call products work after the call. From the vendor pages we checked on 27 Oct 2026:
- Fireflies has a feature called Live Assist, which its own blog says gives real-time suggestions on Pro plans and above. Its bot joins by default.
- SalesEcho describes real-time guidance, objection handling, discovery questions and battle cards, with a desktop app for Mac and Windows. Its coaching is English only, and it has no free plan, only a $1 three-day trial.
- Otter and Fathom: we found no live suggestions, only live transcripts or summaries.
- Gong: we found nothing about in-call prompts. Its help centre says the transcript arrives after the call.
- Palmcard, which we make, shows a private card with what you could say next, in our tests 0.5 to 1.1 seconds after the other person stops talking.
Several threads came from tool makers, so treat the recommendations in any thread with care. We did not rank these tools. SalesEcho is the closest to Palmcard, and it is better at roleplay practice before calls.
Can an AI bring up objection answers while the buyer is talking?
It can, if the answer exists in material you gave it. Palmcard answers pricing questions and objections from your own documents, and when the answer is not there it tells you to say so honestly instead of inventing one.
The line is a suggestion in your own words. You choose whether to say it. For the craft itself, read how to handle sales objections. For prep, see how to prepare for a sales call.
Would a live sales coach be useful, or just annoying?
We do not have evidence on this, and we will not make some up. We found no study on whether live prompts help or distract reps. What we can say is how the design affects the risk.
- Speed. A suggestion that arrives late is noise. That is why we measure the reply time.
- One card, not a feed. Reading takes attention. A short line you can ignore is less intrusive than constant alerts.
- Your material. Suggestions drawn from your documents are more relevant than generic scripts.
- An honest "I do not know". A prompt that invents a price is worse than none.
- Practice. Some people find it distracting at first. Trying it on a low-stakes call helps.
A live assistant is a prompt, not a replacement for knowing your product. You stay responsible for what you say.
Does it work for cold calling?
It works for any call whose audio plays through your computer. Palmcard hears your microphone and the call audio, so calls taken through a laptop or a softphone on the same machine are covered, as are Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex and Slack huddles. A call made on a separate handset is not.
Cold calls are short, and the first ten seconds decide a lot. A live card cannot rescue a bad opening, and the notes and brief from before the call matter more. In some places, calling people you do not know has its own rules, which we did not research. Recording rules are in is it legal to use AI on calls.
What the questions have in common
From the titles, every thread wants the same thing: help at the exact moment of the call, not a summary an hour later. The doubts are about quality (will it be right?), cost to attention (will it distract?) and trust (does it invent?).
Those are fair doubts. A good test is to run a tool on one real call and check three things: did the suggestion arrive in time, was it right, and did it say "I do not know" when it should.
Where Palmcard fits and where it does not
We make Palmcard, so we have an interest. It fits if you are a person on live calls who wants a prompt in the moment, on any platform, with no bot, in 25 languages, with a brief before and a follow-up draft after.
It does not fit if you want an AI to make the calls, a team-wide analytics platform like Gong, or roleplay practice, where SalesEcho is stronger. It runs on a Mac or Windows PC only. Tell the buyer you use an assistant, as you would mention a recording.
Plans start at €9 a month, with a 3-day free trial of 10 minutes of real calls and no card needed. See pricing and how it works. The idea is covered further in real-time call coaching.
Questions people ask
Is an AI sales call assistant an AI that makes the calls?
Sometimes the phrase means that, but this page means software that helps a human during a call. Voice agents that make calls are a different product, and we did not research them.
Is there an AI that gives you answers during a sales call?
Yes. Fireflies has Live Assist and SalesEcho offers real-time guidance. Palmcard, which we make, shows a private card with what you could say next, using your own documents.
Do live prompts distract you?
We found no study. Some people find a card distracting at first. A short line that arrives quickly and that you can ignore is less intrusive than a stream of alerts.
Can it answer pricing questions?
Palmcard answers from your own documents. If the price is not in them, it tells you to say you will check and come back, rather than guessing.
Does it work on cold calls?
Yes, if the call audio plays through your computer. Calls on a separate handset are not covered.
Will the buyer know?
Nothing joins the call and the card is excluded from screen sharing and recordings on Mac and Windows. You should still tell the buyer, the way you would for a recording.
